Norwich Happenings
Written by Neil Fulton
I have had a brief but rewarding two-month stint as
your town manager. During this time I have come to
appreciate even more the quality of town department
heads, employees and the many volunteers who give their
time and knowledge to Norwich. I am especially appreciative
of the Bandstand Committee and the many hours
they put into investigating options for the town manager
and Selectboard.

By the time you read this our new manager, Peter
Webster, will be sitting at this desk. Peter comes with
broad experience and I am sure he would like you to stop
by his office and introduce yourself.

It is budget time again and the Selectboard has scheduled
a number of budget review sessions. If you do not
have the meeting schedule, please contact Nancy Kramer
and she would be glad to send you a copy. Your input is
always welcome, as the annual town budget establishes the
Selectboard’s and your priorities for the next fiscal year. Be
involved!

At present it looks like the proposed expenditure
budget increase will be considerably less than the
Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase without cutting any
town services. This was accomplished even with projected
increases in health insurance costs that exceed the CPI
and increases in propane, oil and fuel costs that affect
every department—especially Public Works, which is
preparing for the unknowns of the coming winter season.

My thanks for your support!
