Norwich Massage Center OpeningAcross from Dan and Whit’s, turn onto Carpenter Street and pull into the convenient parking area. The street level of 8 Carpenter Street is the home of The Massage Center – Healing Arts Associates which opened in October. The Massage Center is a group practice with three treatment rooms and a workshop space. It is handicap- accessible including the parking space.

The owners, Jenny Gelfan and PJ Morgan, offer a range of massage, bodywork and energy balancing treatments including reiki, massage, shiatsu, myofascial release, pain management, tuina, trigger point work, muscle balancing, gentle massage, deep tissue, Thai massage and private massage lessons for partners. Carol Bates Carpenter is their first associate, and future new associates will bring other modalities and styles.

Starting with the Touch Skills for Caregivers workshop in November, presentations, workshops and classes are planned for each month.

Their mission statement is: “In the spirit of peace, vitality and harmony, we meet the simplest need for relaxation to more complex health issues, helping people move toward greater wellness through massage, bodywork and energy techniques most appropriate for each individual.” They work at their Norwich center and on-site with athletes, the elderly, infants, office workers, etc.

The partners bring a wealth of experience to The Massage Center. Jenny has been a massage professional for over 25 years, is nationally certified, and used to have her practice in the Aldrich House. She has also taught massage. Other business experience has been part of her life journey. She recently moved back to the area.

PJ spent many years in healthcare business management and also has a background in graphic and fine arts. She decided to follow her heart, attended and graduated from Green Mountain Institute massage school, then relocated to Vermont two years ago, opening her private practice. Carol Bates Carpenter has had a private massage practice since 2001, and specializes in Thai massage in addition to doing Swedish and deep tissue massage.

Chamber of Commerce VIPs from Hanover and White River Junction helped cut the ribbon at their grand opening on October 24th.
